Men and women are different. You know that. But do they tweet differently? Tweetolife is a simple application that lets you compare and contrast what men and women tweet about. Simply type in a search term or phrase and compare. For example, search for love, and 63 percent of tweets that contain that word were from women, based on the sample data collected between November 2009 and February 2010.

How to Launch a New Blog With (Already) High Search Traffic
As you’re typing a search term into the Google search bar, you’re met with a bunch of suggestions for what other people searched for – people who started their query the same way as you’ve done. Here’s an example of how Auto Suggest looks for a search about kayaking, and then starting to type a word beginning with W:

TwentyFeet – Social Media Monitoring & Ego tracking
TwentyFeet – Social Media Monitoring & Ego tracking.
If you are like me and use social media on a regular basis you are probably obsessed with stats from your various different networks, sites, blogs and sharing tools. Finding out all those stats is usually quite a manual process of logging in and out of several accounts and most people I know check their Google Analytics account about 10 times a day. I’ve always craved a dashboard that would pull in all that information in to one central hub where I could get a quick overview of all the my activity online and Twenty Feet has just launched that tool.
You’ll need to do a little bit of manual work at the start connecting up all your various accounts but that should only take about 10 minutes and once done you’ll have simplified your life significantly and you can kiss goodbye to all the logging in and out of accounts again. It’s a great new service and the level of functionality and customization for a site still in beta is very impressive…
newspaper map | 10000+ online newspapers in the world, translate with one click
Newspaper map is a free webapp that helps you find over 10,000 of the world’s online newspapers, and in many cases get to their Google translations in one click.
The site may be especially useful if you want to get a local take on what’s happening in a particular place. You can search by place or address, as well as newspaper name. Another usage scenario is finding more news sources in your chosen language, since you can also filter the newspapers by language.
The map visualization of all these newspapers is pretty astounding too (and may be useful for academic research). The developers are continuing to add new papers, and say they have pretty much full coverage in over a dozen countries, including Sweden, Spain, France, Austria, Israel, and others.

Future of media: This is no time for incrementalism
In a recent piece for Forbes magazine, Washington Post managing editor Raju Narisetti looks at the challenges that mainstream media of all kinds are facing — falling circulation, the gap between traditional print advertising and the smaller revenues from online advertising, and the difficulties of trying to be digital while still running a legacy business. So what are his solutions for what he calls the “broken business model of quality journalism?” Narisetti doesn’t really have any, which isn’t surprising: as the recent report from the FCC on the future of media showed, it’s a lot easier to describe the problems facing the media industry than it is to come up with answers. But one thing is becoming clear: incremental changes are not enough.

Study: 76 percent of communications professionals use Twitter
PR professionals have continued to embrace Twitter.
In 2011, 76 percent of communicators in the United States and Canada used the site, nearly double the percentage from 2009, according to the Social Media Reality Check, a study by CNW and Leger Marketing.
At the same time, the percentage of consumers using Twitter continues to lag that of PR pros. The study said 32 percent of consumers belong to the site, quadruple the percentage from 2009, when CNW and Leger released its first Social Media Reality Check.
The purpose of the study is to explore professional communicators’ use of social media compared with consumer opinions on its influence over their shopping habits.

Social media in the real world – 5 stunning examples
There’s an emerging trend for social media campaigns that’s seeing them more and more integrated with the real world, i.e. combining online social media technologies with offline experiences. Some technologies are leading the way here such as QR codes, NFC and RFID tags. This is really where the future of social media is at, as brands have to work harder to retain fans at every point of the brand journey : just because this might start offline, it doesn’t mean it has to end there. The holy grail for brands is to convert their users or customers into a follower, friend, fan, Like or subscriber and there’s increasingly innovative campaigns that show this in action. Below is a selection of our favourites.

Why YouTube Adopting Creative Commons Is a Big Deal
Why YouTube Adopting Creative Commons Is a Big Deal — Online Video News.
Making legal YouTube mashups just got a whole lot easier. The site’s video editor is now allowing its users to remix existing YouTube videos without violating anyone’s copyright. This is made possible by YouTube adopting Creative Commons licenses, offering users the chance to publish any video under the liberal CC-BY license. It’s a big step forward for YouTube, and a giant leap for Creative Commons, which previously hasn’t played a big role in the web video world.
