That&#8217;s once for every <strong>ELEVEN<\/strong> people on the planet.<\/p>\n<p>Based on page views and users, <strong>Facebook<\/strong> is the <strong>NO. 2<\/strong> site in the U.S., behind <strong>Google<\/strong> and ahead of <strong>YouTube<\/strong> and <strong>Yahoo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EVERY 60 SECONDS ON FACEBOOK, USERS<\/strong> <em>send<\/em> <strong>230,000<\/strong> messages, <em>update<\/em> <strong>95,000<\/strong> statuses, <em>write<\/em> <strong>80,000<\/strong> wall posts, <em>tag<\/em> <strong>65,000<\/strong> photos, share <strong>50,000<\/strong> links\u2014<em>and affirm or disparage them all with<\/em> <strong>half a million<\/strong> comments.<\/p>\n<p><strong>65%<\/strong> of surveyed teens admit to being <strong>\u201cFRIENDS\u201d<\/strong> with their <strong>PARENTS<\/strong> though <strong>16%<\/strong> said it was a precondition for joining the site. <em>More than <strong>38%<\/strong> of teens have ignored a friend request from Mom or Dad.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Each month, the average user creates <strong>90<\/strong> pieces of content and spends <strong>6 hours<\/strong>, <strong>2 minutes<\/strong> ,and <strong>59 seconds<\/strong> on the site.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zynga,<\/strong> Facebook\u2019s biggest app developer, has <strong>19<\/strong> games that attract <strong>275 MILLION<\/strong> users a month, sabotaging about a <strong>kajillion<\/strong> hours of productivity. <em>(Damn you, CityVille!)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Analysts estimate that Facebook pulled in <strong>$1.86 BILLION<\/strong> in advertising in 2010. <em>That\u2019s expected to grow<\/em> <strong>118%<\/strong> <em>this year, to<\/em> <strong>$4 billion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Facebook takes a <strong>30%<\/strong> cut of all revenue generated through its virtual currency, <strong>Facebook Credits<\/strong>. <em>Virtual goods for sale on the site make up an estimated<\/em> <strong>$835 MILLION<\/strong> <em>market<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>AMERICANS<\/strong> make up <strong>24%<\/strong> of users, followed by Indonesians <strong>(6%)<\/strong>, Brits <strong>(5%)<\/strong>, and Turks <strong>(4$)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Brands with the <strong>MOST<\/strong> fans on Facebook: Coca-Cola <strong>(21.6 million)<\/strong>,Starbucks <strong>(19 million)<\/strong>, Oreo <strong>(16.2 million)<\/strong>, Disney <strong>(15.6 million)<\/strong>, and Red Bull <strong>(14.7 million)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Business of Facebook | Fast Company. http:\/\/www.fastcompany.com\/magazine\/154\/numerology-the-business-of-facebook.html Facebook has 610,736,920 MEMBER PROFILES.
