But don&#8217;t be fooled: A photo you think is gone can linger  on Facebook&#8217;s servers for nearly a year and a half.<\/p>\n<p>Jacqui Cheng of Ars Technica offers <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/web\/news\/2010\/10\/facebook-may-be-making-strides.ars\">definitive proof<\/a>: A Facebook picture she &#8220;deleted&#8221; in May 2009 (below right) and <a href=\"http:\/\/arstechnica.com\/web\/news\/2009\/07\/are-those-photos-really-deleted-from-facebook-think-twice.ars\">wrote an article about in July 2009<\/a> was <em>still<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net\/photos-ak-sf2p\/v10\/158\/75\/13703945\/n13703945_30332935_716.jpg\">on Facebook&#8217;s servers today<\/a>,  more than 16 months later.
